Review: Tyrannosaur

“God ain’t my fucking daddy. My daddy was a fucking cunt”

I have to admit it; I avoided seeing this at the cinema. Not because I didn’t think it would be good, quite the opposite. Paddy Considine is one of the best actors working today and I knew any film with his name attached as Director would be affecting and astoundingly brilliant. I wasn’t wrong. Tyrannosaur is about abuse and redemption and it is brutally but thoughtfully depicted.  I sat at home and watched it on Blu-ray and allowed myself to be enthralled by the depth of the characters and moved by the dramatic and realistic scenes.

Stills: Midnight in Paris

Released on DVD in the UK on 6th February.

One of the best films of 2011 in one of our writers opinions.

Review: J. Edgar

It’s all about the lead performances in this bio-pic of J.Edgar (Leonardo Dicaprio), who worked for and became director of the FBI from 1924 until 1972. The amount of information he gained on political powers in this time ensured his position in his role until the year he died.  It focuses on his powerful reign using flashbacks of famous moments in his career as he dictates his stories to a number of junior investigators and reflects on his life. It also looks at the close personal and professional relationship he had with Clyde Tolson (Armie Hammer).

Stills: J. Edgar

Released in the UK on 20th January 2012.

Stills: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Will you be catching The Rock’s latest film?

Review: Haywire

Gina Carano (a professional MMA fighter) owns the lead role in this espionage thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh. She has been cast alongside Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender and Channing Tatum all of whom she battles against in excellent, well-paced fight sequences.

New Stills: Haywire

Released in the UK on 18th January 2012.

Some sexy shots here, the one with Gina Carano kicking Channing Tatum’s ass is satisfying to look at! What do you think?
